I think that the battle between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is pretty definitive, with Toshiba officially declaring it over.

However, it doesn't seem like it will be a format war so much as a "source war" you could say. I think (legitimately) downloadable movies was mentioned earlier in the thread. As internet speeds and supportive companies (like M$)increase, I'm sure we will see and increase in movies over the net.

For now, I'm happy with Blu-Ray winning and owning a PS3
