Post Athlon x2 Memory Divider Chart

When i first got my Athlon x2 5400+ Black Edition i was wondering why my ddr2 800mhz memory was not constantly 400mhz at all speeds.

After 2 or 3 days of trial and error, I found out that the memory divider is proportional to the multiplier, but i just didnt know how.

Well as you can see by the chart below, its one of those very simple items hidden in plain sight that for some reason i didnt get untill 2 days after i started.

The memory divider will never allow the memory to reach a level above what the memory is specified in bios.*****
***** This may or may not be true, i havent tried <10 or >17 multiplier (the 18 was added in good faith) because my 5400+ will not boot above 3400mhz.*****

So here are the results.

* = best default for FSB overclocking

I see this as both a flaw, and a potential advantage, depending on what multiplier your CPU is using.

The main reason for me adding this list was to save you the hassle of restarting your computer 100 times like I did. Although its possible to easily do this with a calculator and a little patience, I am not willing to crunch the numbers especially when you consider that my calculations could be wrong.

This list is helpful if you dont feel like remembering which setting is what, and you can print it and take it to the bios with you to play around with overclocking potential.

Hopefully this helps someone working with Athlon x2 processors that may end up confused like i was overclocking my Black Edition.
