Xbox 360 PC Monitor and Speakers

If you connect an Xbox 360 console via HDMI cable to a PC monitor, what is the best way to output the sound through PC speakers being the tower is nearby?

You have to connect the xbox to the speakers and choose composite for sound in the settings.

Wouldn't even know which one to choose. Can you give more details on how to hook everything up? I don't think I can connect the Xbox directly to the speakers.

Plug the red and white together and then plug the other end into your sub woofer. You should be able to choose somewhere in your xbox settings how to make the sound come out of composite while the video goes through HDMI.

Would the PC have to be turned on if I do it that way?

No. You are connecting your speakers to your xbox instead of your pc. The pc is not involved.

So Arbiter your hooking your 360 up to display on your PC,If so please tell me how to do that,that would be awesome.

You can buy an adapter to split your sound sound you can hook up to both your xbox and your pc, but, from my experience, this will cut your volume output in half.

You can't do this at all without destroying the factory composite out cable as it covers the opening for the hdmi. You have to purchase a proprietary adapter to do it. I have tried to do this myself and studied the issue at length.
