I had the same issues, had to use a specfic version of the on board scard. Then set the driver in sound properties to the right 3d choice recommended by the speakers/subs maufacturer. I think I actually set it to another spk arrangement - then applied it back...and it worked. Anyway, good luck.

Depends on whether you set it to optimize for applications or boot stuff. I read this prefetch optimization on tweakxp a while ago and tried it, but found that bootvis worked great along with getting rid of some unecessary services - so left out the prefetch optimization. I think it is good...
