Nice, i just saw that open box deal as well. I will probably get that and the supply. How loud is that fan on the msi 8600gts?

    Selecting the right graphics card.

Good question. Never thought about that. Or if the hd 3850 will fit either. My case is a standard mid-tower. I think it will fit. Mine's like 6.75 inches wide.

What do y'all think of Newegg.com - Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU ATX 12V 2.0 500W Power Supply 115/ 230 V UL, CUL, TUV, FCC, and CB certification - Retail Work good for the HD 3850? Too bad rebates are a pain.

Rofl, dell's 300w piece of crap! Heck, i don't even know if it will power 3 disk drives and the XFX mentioned in the first post.

    Selecting the right graphics card.

The ati looks like i will never have a problem with overheating that beast. How big of an advantage is 512mb vs 256mb video memory? I don't want to spend more than $200. I like these suggestions, I never considered the HD 3850. Is it even worth it to look at cards w/o external power?

I sort of want dx10 compatibility. Also, why is a 7800gt any better?

    Selecting the right graphics card.

I know what type of graphics card i need, but looking at all the choices makes me worry i will find out i could have gotten something way better for $10 more or something silly like that! I have been looking at the nvida geforce 8600gt and the 8600gts. Specifically, these two cards: 1...

Power supply issues - Dell inspiron 531

Ok so this guy is crazy, too high of wattage won't fry my board? Found this exact power supply for $1.84 less from circuit city. I like newegg for their comprehensive product specs and reviews though. Buy the Thermaltake PurePower 430W Power Supply and other Computer power supplies at...

Power supply issues - Dell inspiron 531

I know! There isn't a SINGLE little 4pin molex connector at all on this thing! It's 300w and would probably die from a graphics card anyway. I bet it only has like 30% efficiency at peak power usage. I am almost 100% sure it's an ATX board. The main connector is a 24 pin with the -5v pin...

    Anyone scratched discs before?

I do not own a 360... but my friend has one. He brought it over, set it up, put the disk in, and the stand tipped over. I caught it in the nick of time and then we heard a loud grinding noise and the screen froze. We get the disk out and theres just a big circle of scratches all over it. The...

Power supply issues - Dell inspiron 531

Ok, new question. I am going to replace the supply. After like 4 hours of chasing dell support who know nothing about hardware upgrades, I figured out what type i need to buy. Through googling for forums like this one. I need a standard ATX power supply with a 24pin or 20+4pin connector and the...
