You'd be much better off going with a 2.1 to get that full sound you're looking for. If you've got the room size for it, get a cheap set of 5.1. The logitech speakers you've had your eye on are a good 2.1 set and I'm sure they'll give a good bang for your buck. I've heard alot of good things...

Sound cards can make a huge difference but aslong as the one you have is halfway decent I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are a ton of 5.1 cards on newegg for pretty cheap if you want to find something to upgrade to though.

Those are a pretty decent set of speakers. Certainly not the greatest, But they're nice. 5.1 is meant for you to get that all around you sense of sound. The spacing of the speakers doesn't matter so much in your case unless they are extremely close to one another. It won't alter your sound...
