Default XP WPA temp disable

like the title states im lookin for a way to temp disable wpa (it asks me to activate as soon as i click the user icon), so that i can properly set up the network settings and manually acvtivate. (tried wireless and straight broadband connections but none of these are being detected and the phone message i get is where i should call the manufacturer; dont really have the time for that).
