Default XP.. Vista installation

Hello, im on XP but then i installed vista whilst Logged onto Windows XP, when i installed it, it automatically goes to vista but i dont want it to i'd like to choose meself.

Normally you get an option saying which one you want to select.. but mine doesnt ? just goes straight onto vista, any ideas ?

did you upgrade XP? because if you were logged into the XP account you upgraded the old OS. Are your files now in Windows.old folder?

Ideally you need to install XP first, then on a separate partition install Vista. At that point you should have the option of dual booting to either OS.

Well you can doa fresh install while logged in. But without telling us if you did a fresh install or a upgrade there is no way we can answer your question. gve us the info needed then we can help.

Yeah, I think you accidentally upgraded XP to Vista instead of installing a second OS. The best way is to make another partition and then boot Vista's DVD by itself and choose the other partition to install to.
