| Ultra Techie | At work, (school district), we have a synchronizing setup, so whenever students log on/off of their username, their files get synced to the server. Nice, works great. At home, I have an Ubuntu Linux machine that runs as my main desktop. I love linux, I really do, but I'm having a lot of intolerances with it. The big one is the fact that I can't seem to iron out the qwirks of playing DVDs. I get no audio, none. If I get audio, it doesn't match up with the video. So, I've been thinking about setting XP as my main OS. However, with Linux, I have a Samba server running in the background, which allows my two brothers and my parents to log in to my server (start - run - 192.168.1.101, enter username/pw) and store their files. Then it gets rsynced over to my 2nd drive. So essentially, I have a manual raid mirror setup going. Can I do that with XP? Is there any way I can set up my XP machine (the main one) as to somehow synchronize the files located in the "My Documents" folders on the other machines in the house? Note - All machines are running XP Pro. |
