Default XP 32 or 64 bit?

i just upgraded my board and cpu

ECS 755-A2 with AMD 3200+
only have 512 sys memory
128 mb video

should i upgrade to the 64bit windows xp or would it be a waste with what i have now? i plan on getting more memory later...

64 bit is useless unless you have over 3gb of memory as there really arent that many programs that run in 64bit mode right now.

since you have 512MB i'd say go for 32bit... but if your looking into having more than 3gb's of RAM in the future... the 32bit is more than enough... also another alternative to having 64bit is to get Vista.... but thats another story

As stated. 64 Bit wont do yo any good. Even without 3GB as they say. It is jsut that the apps that do run in 64BIt mode wont be any faster since you only run 512MB RAM. If you had 2GB i would say go for it. You would notice some difference in some apps. But overall 64 Bit is still not where it should be. When Apps like WinRar lead the way for 64Bit and mutli core usage it isnt a good sign.
