Default Word Files

I have a MS Word file that is fairly heavily formatted. It appears to be corrupted as I cannot get the cross-reference function to work properly, it keeps inserting arbitrary formatting (such as bold face), and will not properly update field codes.

I have tried saving under a different document name to no avail.
Said file was created in word 97 we are currently using OFF2k.
Any suggestions?????????

By any chance, do you have a PC with Office 97 on it? If so, test the file to see if the formatting works properly. If it does then it is definitely is a formating issue with Office 2k. You might have to download some sore of format utility from the MS Office website.

I had the same problem with MS Access and the new edition of Access reformated the old file automatically. So I don't think is an old file problem.I may be mistaken.Did you try to change the font?
