Default Word 2000

I am using word 2000 for a doc I am creating but every time I hit enter the curser goes down 2 spaces instead of one. How do I fix this. As an example it looks like the following

one

two

three

Instead of

one
two
three

which is what I want. I appreciate any help.

TIA

highlight the two lines, right click on it, click paragraph, look for line spacing and select single instead of double
