Default Wireless adapter working, Vista not detecting status

I have a Linksys wireless adapter, and I'm on Vista. The adapter is working perfectly fine, and I'm using it now, but on the bottom right of my screen, it shows the little logo with the two computers and the red X on it. It says:

Connection Status: Unknown

The service to detect this status is turned off.

Where do I go (specifically) to turn on that service? It's not a huge deal but I want to be able to monitor the strength of my connection.

Thanks.

In the search box on the start menu type "ncpa.cpl" and it will take you to your network connections. You can enable and disable them from there .

Are you using the Linksys software to manage your wireless, rather than Windows? I know it'll say it won't work with Windows if you're using the Linksys program to manage it, but it'll still work.
