| Hey all, I'm new here, was looking around but couldn't really find what I was looking for in one place. I recentley had my main HD fail on me with a windows loading screen blue screen error. I tried doing the chkdsk /p and /r aswell as fixboot, none of which worked. I had to install windows on a spare 40g HD I had to recover the info I'm ready to wipe my main HD clean and reinstall windows from scratch, the problem is I don't know the best way to do it. In the past I've just formatted using the windows install disk (deleting the partion and installing on a new one) but it seems as if that isn't the best way to do it. Does that cause more errors with windows? What's the best way to wipe a HD clean and reinstall? Thanks |

| Commander SMod Autobot | Well you can do a full format with the XP CD. Installing Windows XP - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki Guide i wrote up there. Or you can use the link in my sig for the Windows Index. Go in that thread and find hte Recommended Software for Certain tasks. In there i have listed a few formatting and partitions tools toward the bottom of the first post. |
