Question Windows XP wont go past the progess bar!!!

I have recently reset the motherboard bois settings....now for some strange reason i can boot into safe mode but i can not boot into normal mode, as it never progresses past the progress bar

I have tired a system restore to an early date that succeed. However it didnt solve my problem. I have also tired to repair the windows installation and also had no luck.

Any other ideas?

Many thanks

What exactly did you reset? Back to default? Optimized Settings?

Did you try last known good configuration?

XP? Try a repair install. That's been my solution for this several different times.

Did you try Trotter's idea of a repair install ?

When you pulled the jumper and put it in, did you move the jumper over to the adjacent pin combination on the motherboard ?

. . .

. . .
<<<< move to here ...

. . . <<<<<<then back

I have dealt with motherboards where you have to do that.

Yes Repair install was tried.

Sadly, if a restore point and a repair install fails, there isnt much hope for recovery.

Oh. Missed that point.

Time to pull the drive, pop it in a dock or another computer, and try to transfer any files you want to keep.

I've solved it = D

I first had a problem with the computer not posting anything out at all, so i decided to pull the jumper out of the motherboard and back in again which worked.... However, i was then getting problems getting past the windows progress bar, which turned out to be my sata dvd drive and now everything works. But i get a few errors messages every now and agian when i boot up which seems to indicate that my motherboard isnt finding my hard drive, so a simple restart fixes the problem.
