I have the copy of Windows XP Tablet that came with my laptop. This version of Windows come with a whole bunch of stuff I don't really want. Since I already have a valid serial, is there any way to get the generic copy somewhere else?

The serial is for Tablet only. The actual key defines what version of the OS you can install.
Even with a non tablet os, you will get prompted for the tablet.cab file which has the special stuff for tablet machines.

what I'm saying is that the Serial number you have will not helpyou get a defferent verisoin of windows on there. You will still have to use the Tablet OS, as the serial only allows you to install for that specific type of machine. To get a "the generic copy somewhere else", you will have to obtain an alternate serial number.
