Well, i used to have a lot of startup programs such as Itunes, AIM, Norton Antivirus, Powerstrip, motherboard moniter. etc, but one day, i dont have any idea what i did, but only Norton Starts, and it says "unable to start instant messenger service; please reinstall norton." No other program starts on "startup" but requires the clicking of the .exe, which i find annoying. The biggest problem is my ipod; because the ituneshelper thingy isn't started up WITH windows, it doesn't detect my ipod, and i can't update it (but i can charge it). UGGGh. What did I do? Its currently on Normal Startup in msconfig, and i reinstalled my itunes aplenty. Feels like its on "selective startup" without the programs being checked. I tried system restore but it doesnt allow me or something.

no, i did not mess with it (msconfig) PRIOR to it being messed up

One thing: This happened to me before, and i did SOMETHING to fix it, but i forgot. It didnt not include reformatting, but i do remmeber reinstalling itunes, but not norton. Hmm... I tried system restore, but it said something about "unable to restore to previous point, so no changes were made" which exacerbated the situation. SIGH.

i think it has to do something with my "win.ini" file
:it does not have the [RUN] or [LOAD] when i checked with HijackTHis
doesnt it look kind of short, i looked around online, and people have like 400 lines, whereas mine is much shorter.
