there are 32 bit and a 64 bit versions out there

I've got a 32-bit machine (Pentium 4), so my version of Windows XP Pro (version 2002) must be 32-bit, right?

more than likely its a 32-bit OS. you can click start>right click my computer>click properties
under the General tab it should list your System.... example Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3. <This is a 32-bit OS.

basically if you have win xp 64bit you know it because you installed it. If you do not know what version you have then 99% chance it is 32bit.
