Question Windows XP - How to tweak performance?

Can someone kindly point me in the direction of a guide on how to tweak a Windows XP computer to perform at optimal level?

If you do a Google search quite a few articles come up but I'm hoping the REAL experts here have a how-to guide.

Thanks in advance.
