When Vista is RTM'd it should. They have stated there there will be a new sound scheme. But so far i have only heard mostly the XP Sounds with a few variations. I know that Build 5552 which was a Internal Leak did have a different sound scheme. But most of those were incorperated into Build 5744.

So as of right now i cant say for sure. Since we have heard rumors but have not heard anything since.

Symantec readies Backup Exec for Vista

Symantec has launched a major update to Backup Exec, one of the choicest cuts from the Veritas acquisition. Version 11d has been adapted for Windows Exchange servers and for those who just cannae wait to get 64-bit Vista.

Apparently, they've got a patent pending on something called "Granular Recovery Technology", which makes it possible to recover a single email rather than a whole mailbox. Symantec claims this'll slash half the time off the backup process on Exchange servers.

The firm promises its whizzy new continuous backup will recover activity from just one second before a power cut, plague of locusts, or meteor strike crocks your desktop.

Also new for version 11d is a choice of 128-bit and 256-bit encryption, so backups are more secure.

Backup Exec has long been popular with small and medium-sized outfits running Windows file servers, but it also supports NetApp filers, as well as Oracle, Mac OSX Solaris 10, and SUSE Linux 10.0 clients.

The new version hits the streets on 6 November via Symantec's channel resellers. Try to keep the queue orderly

Vista Licensing Terms Revised
Nick White, one of the product managers for the Windows Vista launch team, has updated the Windows Vista Team Blog with some very good news. It would seem that the retail Vista licensing terms have been revised to read “You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.” This is what Mr. White had to say about the changes:

Our intention behind the original terms was genuinely geared toward combating piracy; however, itÂ’s become clear to us that those original terms were perceived as adversely affecting an important group of customers: PC and hardware enthusiasts. You who comprise the enthusiast market are vital to us for several reasons, not least of all because of the support youÂ’ve provided us throughout the development of Windows Vista.

Vista, Office Biz Launch Set for Nov. 302nd Nov 06
Microsoft will just barely make its November deadline for the release to manufacturing (RTM) of Windows Vista, announcing an event November 30 in New York City to launch both the next-generation operating system and Office 2007.

A select number of journalists have received an invitation to the "New Day For Business Event," to take place at the Nasdaq stock market and featuring Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. In addition, Ballmer is expected to talk about the new version of Exchange, although that would release in December.

Both Windows Vista and Office 2007 have seen their share of delays. Vista was originally set to release before the holiday season, however the company delayed the final release for consumers until 2007 in March, although businesses were slated to receive the code this month.

RC2 was a limited release to the public. It was only available to 100,000 people. that is why RC1 is still up not RC2. So unless you know other ways around it you wont get your hands on RC2 thru a M$ server.

Quite a few of us did. But that is why. Also there are RTM Branch builds out now. I have already gotten and am using 5840.
