i was using my hp computer and about 2 days ago i had this message appear on my computer,i use windows vista

windows could not connect to the group policy client service this problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system as an administrative user you can review the system event log for details about why the service didn't respond

it didnt allow me to open my antivirus and numerous other programs,but i was able to open windows media player and ana mount of other games and i was able to log onto the internet

i was forced to restart my computer in safe mode and do a scan which came up clean im using avast antivirus by the way

then i played some games on my computer and i decided to try another scan with the safe mode to make sure it wasnt a virus ,but now every time i start my computer it doesnt bring me to my desktop instead it opens up the system recovery options,every time i shut it down from the recovery or restart it keeps bringing me ti the system recovery options,what command can i type in the cmd that comes in the recovery options to start my computer again,i know that something is foul with vista,theres no other explanation for this behavior and my computer ran at normal speed no sluggishnes or slowness

i'd be willing to bet its a virus.

i was going t post Orisis's guide but it dosnt seem to exsit here anymore.

It is a Virus and yes the Guide does still exist just in a new form.

supposing i changed my harddrive and bought a fresh copy of windows vista would i also have to buy new ram memory sticks to ensure the virus isnt attached to the memory and infects my new harddrive

the computer im using right now is a laptop hte virus is on the other computer on my desktop its impossible to install anything because i cant log into my desktop it only goes to system recovery options ,in other words its like having a command prompt open and trying to install a game,its impossible,i was hoping there were some commands i could use to get to my desktop

There is no commands to go from the command prompt to Windows. You might be able to try from the c:\ prompt typing in Windows but that is a very old DOS based command. I dont think it is in effect anymore.
