Default windows recovery

if i use the windows recovery console to restore windows...will it format the hard drive? im trying to fix my girls notebook and she has all these important files in drive c:. please help. thanks.

btw, its nice to post something here again.

You could just try to do a windows repair. That jsut erases the Windows files and replaces them. Might do you better to try that before a system recovery. I dknt know off ahnd if it does.
