Default Windows media player takes a while

I have noticed that on my new faster rig that windows media player takes a while to play mpgs. It isn't slow opening the application but actually playing the video. If i click or drag an mpg or wmv file into it it takes time to play.

Thing is my slow laptop doesn't seem to have this problem.

If we cant find and fix the problem does anyone have any suggestions for another (free) player that is good to use.

Using Divx codec or the player if you want http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/?hp3playdl

Download the divx player/codec package from the link I provided. After just double click on it and install.

During install it came up with something about not finding original 2250 in the dynamic link library PX.dll.

Same thing happens when i try opening the player.

Any ideas?

Have you updated to the latest Windows Media Player version 11?

all WMP versions use the same system requirements. I'm thinking something's wrong with your audio card.
