I'm working on a Windows ME computer, and it won't shut down correctly. I don't think it did this before I performed a virus and spyware scan and cleaned all the crap off the computer. I don't remember for sure though. When I go to Start Shut Down the computer logs out of Windows perfectly. then acts like it's going to shutdown but it restarts instead.

Anybody know what the problem could be???

Make sure you do some antivirus/antispyware checks both online and with programs, and do a HiJackThis log (details in my signature)

what does your system event viewer say before the shutdown and what does it say when durning the reboot.
