Most likely. Since this does carry the Live tag they are trying to keep this as legit as possilbe. So they possibly could have WGA check this also.

Although Friday, June 16th was not confirmed by Microsoft for the official release of Windows Live Messengr 8, it has been mentioned today by WinFuture that the rumored release will be delayed.

From WinFuture (translated), "Last week we were told the new incarnation of Microsoft's Messenger would be released on may 16th. Today we were informed by our source, who is involved in the launch process of the software, that there is going to be a delay of uncertain length. So (as everybody actually expected) there's not going to be a Windows Live Messenger release on 06/16."

its deffinatley an improvement as far as features go but i ahev been using the beta fro ages and its gone throgh 1 major change in appearance n other stuff but overall i think its quite a system hog very slow and used to have a lot of bugs but now mine doesn't crash anymroe but still slows thigns down compared to 7.0 or 7.5

A few minutes ago, Microsoft sent a very special e-mail message to all Windows Live Messenger Managed Beta testers, which marks the end of the program. The e-mail message mentions a few of the improved areas in Windows Live Messenger and of course, thanks all beta-testers for their bug reporting and such.

According to antivirus company Panda Software, the worm attempts to disable the security programs installed onto the computer, such as antivirus and firewalls.
