Default Windows Degrag, Crash > Where are my files?

Hey,

I have a problem, I was defragging my parents dell, and during degragging, being windows, it crashed....

Now, there were lots of important files, and the HDD still has the same amount of memory in use, which means they have to be somewhere?

Would any one happen to know of any way of recovering them?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Charlie -

PS: Someone reccomended, Windows desktop search, which is supposed to find ghost files, but it didn't, so, please help!

Thanks again!
