Is Windows 7 worth it?

Hi

I'm currently running windows vista ultimate x64 SP2 and has been very successful so far. It gave the highest system rating of 5.9!

I'm happy with windows vista but is it worth upgrading?

is gaming and performance better?

This whole topic is about that point. Yes it is long, yes it is a pain to read. But it holds all of your answers. Even people who loved XP and hated Vista praise Win7. So read through it and form your opinion.

I would say if you are happy with Vista then there is no real reason to purchase 7.

Yes it is faster and better. Yes I have ran both and like win7 better.

Is it worth $120? Debatable.

I ran vista home premium for about a year, then switched to 7 when the RC came out and theres no way i'd go back. My upgrade discs should be here today actually.

It's only like 50 bucks to upgrade from vista to 7, or it was if you preordered. Not sure what the price is now.

Well, I've been running Ultimate for a couple of weeks now, and it's definitely worth it if you have the cash to blow. But if you don't have the money, it's not worth getting all upset about. Vista with SP2 is a decent OS. If you're happy with it and you don't have a couple hundred extra bucks, just stick with Vista.

But if you have the money, then by all means upgrade. It's worth it.

I like both 7 and vista
if your machine runs Vista great and your option is to swap one for the other I say don't bother..7 is cool but not that different from Vista that you'll be happy you spent the extra cash.. 7 would be better for you if your machine lags on Vista..

I personally will buy 7 when I can afford it and use it as a second OS to Vista.. like I have with Vista to XP

When I installed Vista, I did it as a dual boot with XP. I never booted back to XP.

When I installed the 7 RC, I did it as a dual boot with Vista. I never booted back to Vista.

When I installed 7 RTM, I just formatted the disk and went with 7. If I'm not going to use the other OS I might as well open up the space.

Money isnt really a problem for me

I think i will go ahead and but windows 7 because after reading your replies it definitely seems like its worth it
