Default Windows 7 Upgrade Disc & Vista

Hullo,

This might be a bit confusing but I'll do my best to explain it. I own Vista x64 with a valid key, but when I needed to reformat a while ago, I discovered that it hangs during installation and can't complete (due to an obscure bug). So I installed the Win7 RC for the time being.

What I'm wondering is, will I be able to buy the Win7 HP Upgrade disc and do a clean install that won't become invalid next year? Using either the RC key or the key from my uninstallable copy of Vista?

(I know I won't be able to do a direct upgrade.)

Cheers in advance

The news about if it is possible to do a fresh install from the Upgrade media will start to hit the net in the next few days. Today was the very 1st day that anyone got a hand on the upgrade media so that question cant be answered until someone clues us in. Those of us who have been running it have only had the full media to work with.

Thanks, that's good news - do you reckon I'll be able to validate it using one of those keys even though I can't install the version of Vista? (Well, I can...but it involves ripping most of the RAM out and other tedious things then putting it back together after installation)

It shouldnt require you to use the Vista key. If it does it should still work as it is a valid license.
