Default Windows 7 RC is officially due out in about two weeks.

"Microsoft will deliver a release candidate of Windows 7 in about two weeks, the company's Web site revealed Saturday. According to a page posted on Microsoft's partner program site, Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) may be available to paying subscribers to Microsoft's developer and IT services before May 5. Partners will be allowed to download the release candidate on that date, the first Tuesday of the month. 'Partners: If you have a subscription to MSDN or TechNet, you can download Windows 7 RC now,' the page read Saturday afternoon. 'Otherwise, you can download Windows 7 RC starting May 5, 2009.' The link to the download, however, shunted users to the TechNet download page, which did not list Windows 7 RC as one of the available files. This is the second time in just over three weeks that Microsoft's Web site has leaked information about Windows 7 RC. Accidental, or buzz-builder?"

Read the date of this from the original source. March 26, 2009. Old news mate.

Was never confirmed either. After this hit, there was talks of it being released to testers in April.

I guess I must not be understanding something? Haha.

Because the slashdot article refers to this- Microsoft leaks Windows 7 RC delivery date , which also mentions what you just said about the March 26th one.

Gotta love these types of articles with multiple links.

The truth is that it is not known when the build will be out. Yeah that site did go live for a day. But umm how hard is it to change a few things in the code of the page to change the release date?

So to sit back and believe that M$ is just going to go by what was stated in a mistake is just not the smart thing to do. being a tester i can tell you right now that there is no talks of if or when the build will be released. That is from teh developers themselves. These sites are just going by a page that went active for less than a few hours and take it as the truth when it can be changed in a instant.

there is no talks of getting the RC out to testers on or before May 5th. There was talks of a April 10th release. We see how well that turned out. So yeah i wouldnt take it as set in stone. Cause with M$ and Betas, nothing but the fact that they will be delayed and released when you least expect it is true.

Thanks for the heads up man. If theirs anyone to believe about something concerning Microsoft on here, it's going to be you haha.

One question for ya since it seems like nothing on there should be taken seriously. Do you have any idea (and it sounds like no one would know this yet but it's worth asking), if M$ is going to do what they did with Vista, and have RC1 and RC2 available to the public ? I remember ordering the DVD for RC2 off of their website for Vista, would be nice to test out 7 in a legit way. I haven't followed any M$ release prior to, so I don't know if they have done that historically.

At this time it is still unknown. Vista was the first OS they they did this with. Even XP wasnt released to the public like Vista was.

I would think that there will be a download just like there was for the first Beta. But how many people get it and all that will vary. they may release it to the public and allow like 5 million people, double that of the Beta release, to get it. they may not release it to the public and have us testers run it.

It is anyones guess what they are going to do. they dont even tell us testers what is going on. So for me to sit here and say that yeah it will go public is premature. As it is not known.

But i would guess that they are. With all the positive feedback that they have gotten, i would think that they would to build the hype up in a positive manner for win7, the exact opposite of what the hype was for Vista.
