| Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ I think only some of the high-end Intel chips support hardware virtualisation. But all of AMD's desktop CPU's have for a while. Quote:

though I think that any game that runs in XP but not Vista/7 (i.e. really old games) will only have (relatively) basic 3D acceleration anyway.

| Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ Couple new posts on Toms tonight- Windows 7 Way Smarter With Graphics RAM - Tom's Hardware
At the bottom of the page it reads-
"This change positively impacts real-world usability, but benchmarks may show a degradation in performance since the CPU has to fetch data from video RAM."
Good thing/slight bummer dude.
And... Win 7 Desktop Graphics Loves Multi-core CPUs - Tom's Hardware
That's pretty cool. Nice to see multi-cores being used more. Especially since dual cores are the minimum these days. Hopefully we can see more system resources being used (Multiple cores and more memory) effeciently. Seems like it's going to be a solid release when it comes out, it can only get better as more updates and fixes come out for it.

But you make a good point that any game that you would need that for would just be basic 3D acceleration, anyway. |

| Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ It's really simple to exploit autorun to do something annoying. That's why I have it turned off.
Even something as simple as making a batch script like this: Quote: |

* I'm not suggesting you do this. Merely showing how simple it is to exploit.

| Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ Hate to flood the thread with posts, just so many good ones from Toms the past few days. Windows 7's XP Mode Requires 2 GB RAM - Tom's Hardware
Really not too much of a suprise or an issue with 2GB of RAM. Most computers you see in stores have atleast 2GB, if not 4GB or 6GB. An issue they point out is the need for processor support virtualization.

| Re: Windows 7 Thread and FAQ that is kind a dumb to do. What is the point of having XP mode then besides look of old software not changing on Windows 7 if u have to buy Windows XP? Sounds like it defeats the purpose of having it in the first place...............unless i missed the point of it lol.
