It isnt that i believe this. I have experienced it. I know that my serial from back then isnt on the blacklist. So why is it that it happens to me?

I know i am using OEM with OEM and retail with retail so on and so on. But yet i can not use any Pre-SP1 or SP1 serial with any newer disc.

when I first start fixing computer I was using my gateway xp disc with no sp. it generate random serial that only work for gateway computer. when I would fix non gateway computers I would install using the disc then when the activation would come it would obviously fail. then I would change the key to their serial and it would go through.

around 2002-2003 I started figuring out how their serial system worked. then I start buying certain discs for certain computers. then around 2004-2005 somebody hipped me to the super windows All in one dvd they had like almost every version of windows.

now the disc itself was crappy. most of it features didn't work and you got a BSOD trying to load any windows with it. it had a feature that let you make iso file with each version but that didn't work either. but I could use nlite to import each xp disc folder and make that disc in a bootable iso. all of those xp were sp2 too.

with the dell, gateway, sony, ibm, lenovo, hp, etc. disc, I don't even need a serial if I'm installing to that specific machine

now when I fixed computers, I just figure out what xp disc that I need and get the disc and install and the serial goes through

So it isnt that you are using a specific OEM disc but a OEM disc from a All in One. That makes sense. I have not tried that method. But then again i only have OEM copies from a couple different vendors that i use.

I've did got out and get 3 different oem discs before I found that dvd. and those are the cds that I use more than any other. ironically one of those companies charged me full price for an xp cd and then gave me a burnt copy. they told me the serial was legal so I was cool. I still haven't got over that one

Well it isnt often that i need to use OEM anymore. But for a average user who doesnt have that DVD i woudl think my answers would still be legit.

I could be wrong as we all know i have been before. But in the same aspect i could be right.

thanks to both of you guys

special thanks to EricB tho, it was your OEM idea that got the comp running... i used a new CD that i made with the .iso from this torrent:

Microsoft.Windows.XP.Home.Edition.SP3.OEM-_Untouched_

with the OEM one (and its SP3 ) my CD-key finally worked and i got it fully registered and running :]
still having heat issues resulting in spontaneous shut-downs, but im managing it and once i can find a can of compressed air to clean it out with, that should help...

other than that tho, problem resolved and its doing fine
thanks again for all the helpful ideas, guys :] - RK
