Default will Windows XP Pro X64 Edition go on this pc ??

Hi , i was wondering if Windows XP Pro x64 edition will run and install on my pc....

Operating System at the moment: Windows XP Pro
Intel Celeron D Processor 2.53GHz ( 2533MHz )
768MB DDR Ram
Nvidia GeForce FX5200 Ultra ( Up to Date )
40GB Seagate HDD
C-Media 8738 PCI Sound Card Gaming Surround 5.1

or is Windows XP x64 Edition only for AMD users only ??

because i heard x64 edition is alot Faster than Home and Pro

so will it run on this ?

No. The Celeron D is not a 64bit processor but a 32bit. Intel and AMD both make 64bit processors. Make sure you read up on the chip specification when purchasing another.

Don't you have to have a 64bit ready Mobo to? I believe so..

yes it would, but driver support isnt all that good on x64 windows.

I dissagree everything works for me. External HD, Printer, Sound, Vid, Chip, Apps enough of these bloody rumors saying it doesn't work.

It does work the only problem is your processor you mentioned isn't 64 bit it's a 32 bit.

I have heard many stories of Windows 64bit causing poor performance in 3dmark and games, its still a very new thing and i dont think 64 bit will be perfected until Vista.

I agree with the person from Newcastle - 64 bit XP is a fix, not a redesigned os. When I build my next gamer, I want to incorporate as much of the latest tech as possible. Meaning PCI Express, 64 bit, etc.
Right now, there is almost no support from perifferal (sp) manufacturers. At least, not enough for the prices to be reasonable.
