Default Where are windows updates located?

and is it safe to delete them... they take up quite a bit of memory

You need to show hidden files. Which OS you running? From there i can guide you.

Open My Computer. Go Tools>Folder Options>View Tab. There scroll down and check teh box for show hidden files.

From there go into the C:\Windows folder. There you should see all sorts of folders that have funky names. Those will be the Windows Updates. Yes those are safe to delete. If you are unsure post up a screenshot and i will tell you which ones to delete.
