Default Weird Internet Connectivity & Program Removal Issues

I'm working on a Vista laptop that is having two issues and I'm not sure if they're related or not.

First of all, sometimes when you click a link on a website, it gives a 400 "bad request" error.
Occasionally, clicking refresh will go ahead and load, but only sometimes. Some pages will refuse to load except maybe after relaunching IE7. I have also tried Firefox and get the same problem.
I have tried System Restore, I have used the "netsh" command to reset http and winsock settings and I have tried some registry edits that I found elsewhere and nothing has helped.

Secondly, there is now no "uninstall" button for any programs in add/remove programs.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not but it all started happening about the same time, so far as I know.

Thanks for any help.

you might have some malware in your system. have you tried running any malware scans? if not, try this: http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f51/sp...2008-a-165828/

then post your hijackthis log here - HijackThis Logs (analyze) - Computer Forums

also, try this instead of the windows uninstaller - Revo Uninstaller - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com

I'm sure there is no malware involved. I have run Spybot, Spyware Terminator, SuperAntiSpyware, NOD32, and hijackthis. No problems found.

if your not seeing any remove buttons in add/remove programs something has been corrupted.

download this - Download details: Windows Installer 4.5

you should also do scan with kaspersky - Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab

Use Revo Uninstall for anything that you want to remove. But this seems like a serious issue. I only say that because Vista doesnt have the Repair feature anymore.

Try rebuilding yoru Icon Cache to get the icons back. Also do a checkdsk /f as well to make sure there is nothing wrong with the drive.

chkdsk found no errors and so far still no malware. Why doesn't Vista have a repair option like XP does? Is there some other method of repairing Vista?

Thanks. I usually don't come here until I've tried everything I can think of. I'm running out of ideas on this one.
