Title gives you the problem. This is a legit copy of VS 2008 Professional. Provided by my instructor through the "Microsoft Alliance something something"
According to my instructor, he used an exact copy to the one I have to install VS 2008 on his computer at home. So I don't think DVD copy is the problem. As far as me trying to install the dang thing, I get as far as the installer finishing the "initializing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5" bar but, then I get this error -->
ImageShack - Hosting :: errortk0.jpg
I clicked the view error log, and got this: [10/13/08,12:07:20] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5: [2] Error code 1635 for this component means "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
[10/13/08,12:07:20] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5: [2] Setup Failed on component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 - I looked that error code up and from what I got from that, the error deals with having visual studio already installed or having earlier patches installed (like visual studio sp1) but that isn't the case with me.
I have the Windows Installer 3.1 needed for the setup to be installed.
So if you have any insight on this or any suggestions, it would be appreciated. I have to take this copy back to my instructor tomorrow.
