Default Vista's volume control

is there any way i can get it to an xp style volume control so i can change each devices level and not just the software?

i cant find any settings for any of my speakers, like front, surround, sides, center, or sub. its getting kinda annoying because some of them are overpowering eachother and i cant change the volume. i just put vista on here, and I have the ac97 chipset, and i only have three tabs inside of the realtek audio manager. Is there a more updated, and useful audio control panel for realtek and vista that supports the ac97?

since im like a major audio buff, i always like to screw with the settings and stuff, but this is a major drawback of vista, and from everything that ive seen from it i like, except for the audio manager. im thinking of going back to xp

btw im running home premium

Right click your speaker icon in the bottom right. Then goto playback and there are some options when you click your ac97 buttom and go to properties.

That should at least point you in the right direction. You could always install a third-party tool also.

FOUND IT someone should make a vista for dummies stickey and put info like this in it.

like in xp when you open volume control, and you find all the controls for all of your different speakers, inputs, and whatnot, is also in vista, just very hidden.

right click the audio icon, click playback devices, click your sound card, click properties, and go to the levels tab. i wish there was just an easier way to get to it, like there was in xp without doing all of that clicking...
