Default Vista Wireless Help!

To start off these are my system specs:
Intel Quad Q6600 OC 2.4 to 2.6
Linksys N PCI Adapter
Nvidia 8800GTS
VISTA HOME PREMIUM

So I am playing Counter Strike: Source, for this system, it is not a demanding game and due to the high speed network there should have been no problems. However after a few minutes of playing in my group's server the ping jumped up to 400 (and stayed there)!!! I have been told that Vista has a tendancy to create high ping (something about polling...) and it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could tell me a workaround to this problem.

Note: I never had this problem on my old XP system using the same network and same server. Also typing "vista polling fix" into google brings up two batch files. I tried them but instead of removing Vista polling they remove all internet whatsoever.

Thanks
