Default Vista Sound problem

Hello, i just reinstalled my Windows Vista Basic Edition and was wondering why my headphones are not working.. when i take the Green Jack for my headphones out i can hear the sound from my Laptop Speakers fine but then i plug the Green jack in for my headphones i cant hear a thing the sound is at full Volume.. and Vista came preinstalled on this Laptop

Did you try the headphone on another device?

Are you sure that your laptop uses that port as a headphone jack and not a mic jack?

my audio driver has an interface...I have to tell it what is connected to what jack

if headphones work...could just be the jack (on the mobo/tower) that's dead

It is a laptop. But that is a good point. You might have to go into the Control Panel and tell vista that it is a headphone attached not a mic. Vista could be thinking it is a mic.

When i plug the Headphone jack in i can hear some kinda rustling thing just as you put the headphone jack near the socket
