Default Vista and sharing folders.

I'm a little confused over something... I had a file on a spare computer of mine that is running Ubuntu that I needed to back up. Well, my main rig was booted into Vista so I decided I'd dump it on Vista and later retrieve it from Vista. I just needed to back it up to a 2nd place for now cause my 2nd PC running Ubuntu is getting redone and I didn't want to lose the file.

So I plop a folder on my desktop and name it "share". So the full path is /users/jason/desktop/share.

Since that is the path of the share, that suggests to me that ONLY "share" is shared out.

Well, how come I can dump files wherever I want inside the "jason" folder? I did this only expecting "share" to be shared not, not the entire user profile...
