Default Vista Icons gone bad

All of the sudden all my MS Office icons have gone missing. I googled the matter and I read something about a corrupted Desktop.ini file, but I can't figure out how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is a built if Office Repair and you dont need the disk for it at all. Start Menu>Office>Tools>Office Diagnostics. That will do the repair for you as well.

As for your issue you need to rebuild Vista's Icon Cache.

That Office Diag tool won't start and I tried reinstalling Office and the program crashes. I try to uninstall it and it doesn't uninstall. Should I force uninstall it through Ccleaner or manually do it? I think some file got corrupt.

EDIT: I tried rebuilding the icon cache as it was listed here: (Icon Cache - Rebuild - Vista Forums) and nothing changed.

IF it is more than Office Icons then you would need to rebuild your Icon Cache overall. but if you have problems even running Office at all i would suggest a trip to Safe Mode to try and uninstall it first. IF that doesnt work you will be forced to use CCleaner or some other methods.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but it didn't work.
Now it's becoming very frustrating.
I couldn't uninstall Office in Safe Mode either.
I think a sector of the HDD got corrupted or something. What do you guys think?
I heard that these VelociRaptors aren't as reliable as they sound and some corrupt files like these.
I think that's the case because my computer is clean, boots in about 20 sec, no viruses, spyware, no unexpected shutdowns, fully up to date, etc. If I can't figure it out by this week-end I will have to reformat.
