This may sound stupid, but i dont have a clue.

I really want vista without forking out £90,and saw the Academic version for just £55 OEM, Bargain. But what kind of Academic edutcation do you have to be in, because i go to school (im 14) does this count ? lol.

P.S. I dont no wether it makes any difference, but i live in the UK.

I dont know about over there.... but here you can buy them at Book/software Stores on University campuses.

i think if you can buy it's, it's the source you buy from that has to worry.
All you should worry about is requirements for install...and what kind of warranty MS owes you for that version.
You know...people who don't know much about computers and buy OEM software and get mad at the software makers for not holding their hands while they try to figure out how to install or get that software to work...I don't like those folks
