Default video file probs

i started having this problem recently where i click on a link to a video off of a web site and all i get is thousands of pages of text (the weird text that looks like hieroglyphics). i've seen it happen mostly to .wmv files, but also to .asf files. does anybody know whats going on?

try right-clicking and Save Target As... for starters.

maybe there's no program configured to run in your browser to play those files.

what browser are you using? what OS?

when i try and save as, it idintifies it as a text file. videos would usually use windows media, real media, or quicktime to play. i'm using IE6 and i have XP Pro with service pack 2.
