Default very slow hard drive transfer

i just upgraded my mobo and memory to

GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775
and some decent timings 2gb of ram(dual channel enabled)
i have a 37GB WD raptor(10000rpm) as a system drive
2 300gb WD drives for all my stuff
and just bought another 1TB drive (because they were relatively cheap at local fry's)
all of them are SATA

the only IDE drive i have is cdrom. no floppy

the odd part is i had much faster transfer speeds on my old setup
same disks same OS different motherboard and memory

i mean it took me almost an hour to install photoshop last night
and 4 minutes to transfer 1.3 GB of data from one disk to another.

the pc is lagging kinda and i scanned it with 2 antispyware progs and antivirus, didnt find anything.
i do have a firewall and its acting normal.

is government after me and infecting my pc with secre squirrel files? lol

No but you should know that using a OLD install of Windows on a NEW mobo is a BAD idea. The drivers installed were for the old setup. The hardware profile is all for the old setup. That is what is causing your problems.

Do a repair install of XP or format and reinstall Vista/Win7 to fix.

check bios to see if the drives are set up in compatibility mode which will cause them to transfer at ide speeds.
