| unzipping spanned zip hi all,
i got a set of zip files, with the first with the standard extension, and the rest showing .z01, .z02., z03 etc. I tried unzipping it the usual way but to no effect, it keeps on requesting me to insert the first disk in the drive, which is quite funny since all files are actually already inside the folder. Can anyone help me, or is it down to the recycle bin?
Thanks in advance

| Re: unzipping spanned zip i've tried 7zip, winrar, winzip, all to no result, in winrar and 7zip they say archive not found, but when i open the first (and only) file with valid .zip extension using winzip all the files are there (at least the heading are), but during extract winzip ask to insert the spanned disk into the driver, which is confusing since i have the spanned files and not disks. All so confusing :-( |

| Re: unzipping spanned zip When you unzip the first file, it automatically unzips the rest at the same time as they are all parts of the whole. |

| Re: unzipping spanned zip Find the file that ends in just .zip or .rar with no numbers. That is the very first file of the group. Some archives are setup so they will only extract when this file is extracted first.

| Re: unzipping spanned zip @ mak & trotter: i did unzip the only part with .zip only extension, the only file recognized by the PC as WinZip, the other files ends in .z01, .z02, etc (i.e. xxx.z01, xxx.z02, and on the type bar it is known only as Z01, Z02 files. Do I have to change the extension into .zip or add .zip after .z01? |

| Re: unzipping spanned zip Can you post a screen shot of the zip archive? Maybe then we can get a better idea.

| Re: unzipping spanned zip @ mak
so here it goes:
1st attach - the files as they are
2nd attach - what happens when i tried unzipping them
3rd attach - this is after i hit yes on the 2nd attach
4th attach - the result, and it goes on for the next file(s) until i cancel the unzipping
hope you can give me some advice.
thanks in advance |

| Re: unzipping spanned zip Did you try just unzipping the Anthems.Christopers file? that is the beginning of the archive. Looks like you have the known file extenstions turned off though which is why you dont see the .zip at the end of it.
