Default Uninstalling problems

I have recently uninstalled a game ( the sims & expansion pack) and want to reinstall it. However, it still detects that it is on the machine and will not continue. I have removed the software but it is still in the list of add/remove programmes. Any ideas?

Did you just delete the folder or delete the game true the uninstaller. You may try a program called Add/remove 2004. It's free. Just google it. it may work.

Also..... go start>run>regedit....press ctrl+f and look for any instances of the game and rightclick>delete them.

Instead of searching the directory simply go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software. U will find a folder by the name of the game or the manufacturer. Delete it. Now try reinstalling the game.
U might consider taking a backup of the registry.

just goto HLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\unin stall\{whatever program is stuck in the addremove}

Here's a hint, if you dont know... DONT delete it.
