|  Unable to format my new computer I got my new computer today, it has windows XP with it and it run fine But the problem is that I'm not able to format my computer !! I get message in the blue screen saying that I'm not able to install windows because setup did not find any hard drive ! Please someone help

| Re: Unable to format my new computer So XP works, and yet when you pop in the bootable windows cd and get to the format menu it gives you a blue screen? Or what? When does it say it can't detect a drive?

When you boot your from windows XP, it will give you three choices right ? The first choice is to setup windows and second is repair (or something like that) When I choose the first one I get a message saying that I should make sure that my hard drive is turned on

| Re: Unable to format my new computer You need to download the SATA drivers for it and when it boots up hit f6 and install the sata drivers from a floppy drive. I had the same problem on the last batch of HP laptops we got in.

| Re: Unable to format my new computer If the drive is SATA you might need to load the SATA drivers first. *beaten to it  Just put them on a USB stick or floppy and hit F6 when it prompts you like veedubfreak said...
