Default transfer data

OK, so I have my old hard drive that I want to turn into an external. However, it has windows XP on it and my new comp has windows vista... is there anyway I can make it an external? like remove the OS without losing all my music and stuff?

you need an external enclosure to put the old internal in and convert it to usb....lucky for you there are lots of those these days
