Default thunderbird issues

I installed vista on my main computer the other day. I backed up my Thunderbird file prior to the format all 2gigs of it. After installing Thunderbird i copied my Thunderbird folder back over to the pc and placed my files in the appropriate folder. I opened Thunderbird to discover nothing was there. I have since downloaded a program to convert my email from Thunderbird to windows mail. I would much rather user Thunderbird. How can i get all my email back in Thunderbird?
Thank you

Well how did you back it up? Did you just take your profile folder and move it or what? This would be better asked by the people who created thunderbird. Not many users here us it. We either use Incredimail, outlook or something like that. Very few Thunderbird users here.

Have you tried to export them from Windows mail? Or tried to import from Windows mail to thunderbird?

I copied the entire profile folder. I uses imapsize to convert my messages into outlook express format and then movem into windows mail. I have not tried going back and having thunderbird import all my email from windows mail.

Go back into thunderbird and use it's import feature to import from outlook express.

It's been a while but i believe it's under File --> Import
