Wow, what is going on here. First the
Firefox update to version 2.0.0.5, then Opera with its new version 9.22 of the Opera
browser and now
Thunderbird with another update to 2.0.0.5. I’m updating my
software all day if the trend continues. The release is already available on the
website and through the “check for updates” dialog in Thunderbird. I was not reminded however that there was a new version of Thunderbird available during program start.
There has been only two
security fixes in this version of Thunderbird but 21
bug fixes which should get rid of some bugs that caused headaches for some users of Thunderbird. The
rumbling edge website has a detailed list of all the fixes of this version with links pointing to explanations if needed. The security fixes have been the following:
Fixed: MFSA 2007-18 - Crashes with evidence of
memory corruption (Critical)
Fixed: MFSA 2007-23 - Remote code execution by launching Firefox from
Internet Explorer Thunderbird 2.0.0.5 available
