I hate to ask this as it seems like one of those questions that must come up a lot but I can't find anything through searches. I've used cd images for games a fair bit but never made them myself. I have a game (Neverwinter Nights 2) that I'd like to backup cause the dvd is pretty scratched and I'm afraid it might stop working.
I've tried using Alcohol 120% to make a dvd image but when I try to run the game it tells me the original disc cannot be found or authenticated. I have read on a thread that in making the ISO perhaps none of the encryption information was included, therefore it can't authenticate the file. I've also read that I need to know what kind of encryption is on the disc and set that as an option on alcohol in the image making wizard. I imagine there must be some way to find this out, though I think it might be securom 7. Not that I really know what that means.
So does anyone know of a simple guide to making cd/dvd images for games? Or have some experience to help me out? I don't mind if I need other programs like Magic ISO or Daemon Tools, though I have found Daemon tools rather complicated.
